The artists of The Stove Network challenged the town to create a ‘People’s Charter’ for the future of Dumfries. The 1395 Royal Charter for the Burgh of Dumfries is read out each year as part of Guid Nychburris (Good Neighbours) Festival – this year there was an alternative version as well….
Blue banners were wrapped around the town fountain. The lettering needed the addition of water to become properly visible – the fountain itself was the water supply and buckets and sponges the tools for the job. Next door was Charter14 HQ – where people were invited to edit and add to the crowd-sourced ‘People’s Charter’ before stamping, signing and sealing their own copy.
