The Stove is offering an opportunity for an artist (or group of artists) to join the team working on this year’s Nithraid in Dumfries and to add your unique contribution to a part of the event.
The Salty Coo procession is re-invented by artists every year – in 2016 you might choose work with sound, costume, symbolism, colour, dance….all or none of the above – to put your own stamp on part of the town’s cultural calendar! There are no artistic rules for the Salty Coo procession except that the Coo must end up at the Nith in time for the arrival of the boats racing up the river from the Solway Firth.
As part of the project you will receive guidance and support from experienced artists and technicians and join a multi-disciplinary production team who can help you weave your ideas into the overall event. Your work will be professionally documented and will give you valuable experience of delivering an artwork commission for your future career/portfolio.
The Nithraid 2016 event takes place on Saturday 3rd September
Timeframe and Budget:
- Fee – £800 inclusive of fee, all materials and expenses.
- Commission will start from the successful applicant(s) receiving confirmation and run until the completion of the project on 3rd September 2106
Application: to be sent by the deadline of Friday 22nd July to email@example.com
- A letter telling us why you are interested in the commission
