Commission Opportunity: Art in Action

Creative Futures Lincluden & Lochside are are looking for a community artist or artist team to work with the groups and the wider local community to create a visible identity for the new community hub in the former Lochside Primary School on Lochside Road.

The vision for the project is to commission an artist to carry out initial creative consultation with groups and the wider community and from these bring forward proposal that could include:

  • Name and visual identity for the community hub
  • An artwork attached to or integrated into the building
  • Artworks/colour palette for the perimeter of the building along the public roadway
  • Other ideas!

Ideas brought forward by the commissioned artist will be agreed collectively by the different stakeholders involved in the community (and any necessary statutory permissions researched). 

Budgets will be allocated and working methods agreed for creating the artworks with the commissioned artists 

(collective creation of the artworks with the community will be prioritised in the artworks to be commissioned.)

Fee and Budget

The fee for the initial consultation work and bringing forward ideas to be commissioned is £1000

The implementation budget for agreed ideas from the first stage is likely to be in the range of £4-6,000 (inclusive of all fees, permissions and materials).

  • A letter of no more than one page of A4 stating your interest in the commission and how you would approach it.
  • Up to 5 examples of relevant past work

Deadline for applications Tuesday 10th March at 5pm

Interviews will be held in Dumfries on Thursday 19th March – by applying for the commission you are declaring yourself available on that day.
