Creative Toolbox is a new youth programme that explores STORYTELLING through various art forms, with a focus on creative wellbeing. Aimed at addressing challenges such as low self-esteem, low confidence, and poor mental health, Creative Toolbox provides a supportive environment for young people to express their creativity.
The Creative Toolbox cohort has had the chance to work with industry professionals to develop new skills in Creative Writing, Drama, Illustration, Textiles, Photography & Sound Production. The group consists of young people aged12 – 20 in the Dumfries & Galloway region.
Our display at The Stove Cafe is an insight into the work created during our three months together and features a diverse array of works created by participants over the three-month programme, offering an insight into their creative journeys and the stories they have chosen to tell through their art.
About OutPost Arts
OutPost Arts has established itself at local, regional, and national levels as an innovative and progressive rural arts organisation. With the skills, knowledge, and connections we deliver meaningful and impactful work; supporting people to engage with art/culture and harness creativity as an agent for development, wellbeing, and transformation.
The OutPost Arts board and team are fuelled by the belief that people should have equal access to high-quality creative opportunities to enhance their lives, build skills and widen their horizons. Through connecting with art and culture, they create vibrant, robust, and resilient communities. Their programmes confront issues such as isolation, low confidence/self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and trauma by connecting people in need to meaningful, creative interventions–often in their own communities.
