Livy Nelson Art Exhibition
“Without this work, I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today.”
Livy Nelson
This exhibition is a celebration of chaos, transition and the impact of personal and geographical changes on the subconscious. It showcases artworks created between 2019 and 2020 in both Portsmouth and Dalbeattie before the the most recent significant change to the artist’s life: moving to Hanoi, Vietnam.
The artworks on display are a look into the artist’s past self and an acknowledgment of the continuous journey of self-discovery and reinvention bought about by constant change.
This is an opportunity to explore the artist’s psyche before the Southeast Asian influence that can be seen in their current work. Livy invites you to journey into your own mind and reflect on the pathways that have bought you to this present moment.
About the Artist
Livy is a multi-disciplinary artist from the U.K. now living in Hanoi who merges illustration and fine art.
The mountains and seascapes that she grew up around remain a great source of inspiration to her, from the vibrant and contrasting colours to the environments themselves. Livy has always had a deep love for the natural world and an interest in environmental issues.
Her most recent work predominantly deals with vibrant, illustrative paintings often depicting elements of the natural world. She explores material through her work painting and drawing on a range of surfaces from motorcycle helmets to clothing to canvas. The artwork is a vivid exploration of colour with focus on contrasts.
