Open Hoose: Climate Kitchen

July 19 @ 5:30 pm 8:00 pm

The Climate Kitchen, run by local community members, is a space for learning, sharing, contributing and working together to do something positive for the climate!

CLIMATE KITCHEN JULY 2024: HOW E-BIKES CAN TRANSFORM OUR TOWN

Ever fancied getting an e-bike but don’t know if it’s for you? Have you been put off by scare stories about exploding batteries, puzzled by the choice of bikes or does the cost seem too high? Want to know how e-bikes could transform the way we travel in Dumfries, and how they could significantly reduce carbon emissions from transport in Scotland? Then our next Climate Kitchen event might just be for you.

Tim Godwin, a local e-bike enthusiast and builder of e-cargo bikes, will lead us through an evening of e-bike explainers, myth-busting, how e-bikes can help improve our town, our community and our health, and what cities and governments around the world are doing to make e-bikes more accessible as an alternative to cars and pollution.

We’ll be looking to answer the question – why is Scotland (and the rest of the UK) lagging behind the rest of the world, and what can we do about it?

Join us for a warm welcome, some good grub and a friendly discussion that might just give us the tools to turbo-charge the way we travel!

Climate Kitchen is open to anyone and everyone! This evening promises to be simple, fun, effective, and suitable for all skill levels including.

The Stove Cafe will be open for food and drinks from 5:30pm, so if you’ve got an appetite for change OR an appetite for a cuppa and some locally sourced food then we look forward to seeing you there!

Doors open at 5:30pm for food, the event starts at 6pm sharp.
