Reel to Real Cinema At Home: DELTA 7EVEN
Friday, 14th May 2021
Watch live from 7pm
Post-film discussion with director Rosie Baldwin on Crowdcast 8.00 – 8.30pm

Each month during lockdown we are sharing with you a brilliant find that we have made freely available online to our Reel to Real Cinema audiences. This month we are sharing the deeply moving, yet warm and unexpectedly funny, DELTA 7EVEN – the story of an eccentric post punk band made up of adults with learning disabilities, and the events following the tragic news that a bandmate has taken his own life.

Featuring the band’s original music, this observational documentary is a timely and unique insight into the ripple-effect of losing a loved one to suicide, and the vastly different ways in which people grieve. Filmed over the course of a year, both before and immediately after the tragedy, the film follows the band as they face their grief head-on and turn it into a united strength, self-belief and desire to continue.

A life-affirming celebration of neuro-diversity and inclusion, DELTA 7EVEN offers a unique look into group dynamics and the refusal to live a life dictated by stereotypes.

Overcoming the seemingly insurmountable, the band speak to the transformative power of one’s own creativity, and the film tells a compelling tale of resilience and unity in the face of the worst that life can give you.

We invite you to watch along with us using the links provided live on the evening, and then join us for a post-film discussion on Crowdcast to explore the films we have watched together.

We’ve passed the year long mark in our Reel to Real Cinema At Home programme and it is bitter-sweet as we announce that this will be our last online film screening for a short while, giving us time to re-group and look to bring cinema back to The Stove in person! Whilst we are very excited about the prospect of real-life cinema in the town centre, we appreciate this might be disappointing for audiences who may not be able to easily visit us. You’ll be glad to hear that we are working on a blended programme in the coming months, including digital and in-person film, we hope to be sharing details with you all soon.

About Reel to Real Cinema At Home

As we look to explore how we can use collective film watching at home as a means to gather, share ideas and connect we’ve been delving through the vastness of the internet to source interesting and relevant stories for now, on film.

Reel to Real continues to share a film and discussion evening on the second Friday of the month online, until we are able to return safely to our High Street home in The Stove, Dumfries.
