Spring Tide

May 28 @ 12:00 pm 4:00 pm

The next in a series of seasonal public art activities hosted by The Stove to mark the transition into Spring, Spring Tide sees art installations and creative activities taking place on Saturday 28th May in the Dock Park.

Join us for an afternoon exploring themes of migration and turning seasons as we welcome the change in the year, and the arrival of new residents.

Actions include a temporary art installation in the bandstand created by artist Helen Walsh, children’s workshop activities accompanied by local musicians and soundscapes.

Spring Tide runs from 12 noon – 4pm and is open to all. No booking is required, and activities are offered on a drop-in basis.

Workshop and performance details to be announced in thecoming weeks.

Spring Tide is part of a series of public art activities taking place, having opened with the Winter Gaitherin in December, and a further event due to take place in July, the Summer Exchange. These events form part of the Stove’s wider public artwork, sharing creative practices in public spaces.

About ‘Swoop’ art installation

Swoop is the title for Helen Walsh’s site-specific art installation created for the rafters of the Dock Park bandstand. A flight of swallows has been created by local groups working with the support of Helen and taken roost in the Dock Park over the course of the weekend, available to view during daylight hours over Friday 27th and Saturday 28th May.

A public workshop to contribute to the flight of swallows will take place at the Stove on Saturday, 7th May from 2-4pm, for details click here.
