SUMMARY:Reel to Real: Rave on the Avon
DESCRIPTION:This month we are sharing the documentary film\, Rave on for the Avon\, a feature-length documentary film that follows a local community’s fight to save their bathing spot in unique\, daring & distinctly Bristolian ways. \n\n\n\nAbout the Film \n\n\n\nFilmed over two years in Bristol\, Rave On For The Avon is an intimate and action-packed documentary that explores the love for rivers shared by campaigners.  \n\n\n\nAn immersive and cinematic film\, it allows viewers to melt into the river\, to see\, hear and almost feel the tingling of the cold as swimmer dip their toes in. The film blends the cinematic and poetic with intimate\, observational filmmaking and action- packed adventure scenes. It is a real mix to show the tapestry of ways we love our local patch of the Avon and why we want to protect it. \n\n\n\nThis film delivers a sense of urgency about the critical state of the River Avon and how much the locals rely on it for their health and wellbeing\, hoping to galvanise audiences to campaign for policy change in the UK and abroad. Rave On For The Avon invites viewers to seek out swimming spots in their local area and fight to protect them. The situation is dire but there is hope and community to be found in protecting rivers.  \n\n\n\nWatch the trailer here: \n\n\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V84OmOUIoG4&t=1s \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Cafe is open from 5:30 with refreshments available

SUMMARY:Write!
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to WRITE! Join us at our monthly creative writing workshop with author Karl Drinkwater. \n\n\n\nWRITE! is all about letting your imagination guide your hand. In each session\, we’ll chat about a writing-related topic\, then provide prompts and a theme. Then\, attendees are allowed to write based on the inspiration. It might be a character sketch\, a piece of description or dialogue. The key thing is that it will be your words. They’d never have been born if you’d stayed at home that night. \n\n\n\nThe short piece you write could be practice or a creative outlet. However\, it could become the seed of a short story or part of a longer work. We end each friendly and informal session with the opportunity for some people to read out what they wrote\, as a celebration of the new words. \n\n\n\nSessions are expertly guided by thought-provoking prompts\, offering dedicated time for free-flowing expression. Afterwards\, participants have the opportunity to share their creations within supportive groups. They can receive valuable tips to enhance their writing skills and boost confidence. Whether you’re rediscovering the joy of the creative process or seeking inspiration for your existing project\, Write fosters a collaborative and experimental environment. Fuel your next big project with the friendly encouragement and creative energy that defines Write. \n\n\n\nOpen to: everyone! It doesn’t matter whether you’ve never written anything before or if you’re an established author looking for a brief shot of espresso creativity. It’s not a course\, so you can attend any or all sessions\, as you wish. \n\n\n\nSo come along. We’ll provide the inspiration and a supportive group of new friends. All you need to do is bring your pen*\, engage your heid\, and write! \n\n\n\n(* Of course\, it’s fine to bring a laptop or gadget instead of a pen and paper. Words are words\, whatever the medium!) \n\n\n\nThe Stove Cafe will be serving drinks and nibbles from 6.30 pm – 7 pm
