DESCRIPTION:PRINT HOUSE — LAUNCH DAY \n\n\n\nWe’re opening the doors to the Print House – a new space for making\, experimenting\, and getting ideas out in the world.Join us for a full day of hands-on workshops to kick things off. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIntroduction to Risograph10:30am – 1:30pmA hands-on introduction to risograph printing.A process that sits somewhere between photocopier and screenprint\, known for its bold colours\, textured layers\, and unpredictable charm.In this 3-hour session\, you’ll learn the basics: how to prepare artwork\, build layers\, and print your own two-colour design. You’ll leave with your own prints and a solid grounding in the process.Whether it’s your first time or you’re brushing up your skills\, this is a chance to get stuck in\, try things out\, and see what happens. Expect good tunes\, good chat\, and a drink to mark the launch. \n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\nImportant Info:– Spaces are limited and offered on a first-come\, first-served basis– Age restriction: 16+– If you sign up but can no longer attend\, please let us know ASAP so we can offer your space to someone else. \n\n\n\nWhat is risograph printing? \n\n\n\nRisograph (or ‘riso’) is a gloriously unpredictable print process that sits somewhere between screen printing and photocopying. It uses bright soy-based inks and a stencil-based method to produce bold\, textured\, layered prints with a beautifully handmade feel.Each colour is printed one or two layers at a time – meaning happy accidents\, weird overlaps\, and slight misregistrations are all part of the charm. It’s fast\, affordable\, eco-conscious\, and ideal for posters\, zines\, flyers\, art prints\, comics\, and more.Riso is loved for its vibrant colours that can’t be replicated through digital means\, low-fi textures\, and its power to turn the ordinary into something full of life and energy. It’s a bit like magic – but with rollers and drums \n\n\n\nAccessibility Information  \n\n\n\nThe Print House is step-free and located on a single level\, with an accessible toilet available on site. \n\n\n\nThe space is compact\, so we recommend getting in touch in advance if you’d like to plan your visit. DESCRIPTION:At a time when debates about the “manosphere” and modern masculinity are dominating headlines\, the film explores a quieter question: why do so many men struggle to talk about their feelings? \n\n\n\nDoors open at 5:30 for refreshments before the film. \n\n\n\nAbout the Film \n\n\n\nWhy do so many men struggle to show their feelings? \n\n\n\nPart therapy\, part road trip\, BAFTA award winning filmmaker Duncan Cowles asks men how they open up in order to directly address his own difficulties in being intimate and open with his loved ones. \n\n\n\nWith profound honesty and deadpan wit\, SILENT MEN intertwines awkward conversations and the filmmaking process\, asking what makes men tick\, and more importantly\, how to come to terms with all aspects of health\, both physical and mental. \n\n\n\nExploring aspects of masculinity that all too often are little discussed\, this film opens the door for other ways of being\, communicating and healing\, as well as attempting to define masculinity. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Reel to Real Cinema \n\n\n\nReel to Real Cinema is a monthly film space in the Stove Café\, featuring an eclectic mixture of conversational films – from artist made shorts to feature length documentaries\, locally made to international cinema. A space for discussion and thought-provoking films\, you are welcome to join us after the film for a short discussion about the themes from this month’s selection.
