Job Opportunity: Bookkeeper

The Stove Network in Dumfries is looking for a part-time, freelance bookkeeper.

Job Description

We currently use Xero for our charity and trading subsidiary accounts and our payroll. Initially, we are looking for someone to:

  • perform fortnightly bookkeeping and reconciliation
  • run payroll when Operations Manager is on holiday
  • assist in preparing information for annual audits

It is expected that the successful candidate will be hired for 10 hours per month at a rate of £15 per hour. The initial contract will be for 6 months. We can provide a working space, or the work can be done remotely (however paper files will need to be exchanged on a fortnightly basis).

In the future, there may be scope for additional paid hours to assist with preparation of financial reports, improving systems and holiday cover to process invoices. We have steadily grown over the last 9 years so it is very likely that this could grow into a core role for someone who is genuinely interested in the third sector and community enterprise.

Experience with standard bookkeeping systems, like Xero, is essential. Experience with charity accounts is highly desirable.

The position starts as soon as possible.

Please apply by sending a CV and a brief cover letter to ailsa@thestove.org by 28th February 2020.
