The Stove Network is seeking expressions of interest from Stove members who would like to undertake a commission as part of the ‘when in roam’ residency that Orphaned Limbs collective will be conducting at The Stove at the end of May 2016 as part of the D & G Arts Festival.
Orphaned Limbs Collective is a Scotland-based and international artist group incorporating interdisciplinary work with community arts projects. ‘when in roam’ is their new project, which explores displacement, belonging, and co-creates stories with the audience about notions of home.
This opportunity is for a Stove member to work alongside Orphaned Limbs to develop a piece of work that adds a visual component to their residency. The commission approach should be integrated into the development and the final performance presentation of ‘when in roam’ on Friday 27th May.
The main criteria for the commission are experience of interdisciplinary arts projects and the ability to work collaboratively in a responsive way to the residency. We are open to applications from artists and creative practitioners working across art forms – however Orphaned Limbs have expressed a particular interest in working with people with experience in the one or some of the following areas:
- The field of visual arts, particularly digital arts
- Video projection and documentation
- Installation art.

- Expression of interest in the commission
- Up to 5 examples of relevant past work – submitted electronically with maximum file size of 10MB
- Applicants must be available for interview on the 18th and 19th of April
Timeframe and Budget:
- Fee – £900 inclusive of fee, all materials and expenses.
NB the detailed allocation of the budget between will be agreed between the successful artist and The Stove Network project team.
- Commission will start from successful confirmation and run until the end of May.
Applicant must be available for collaboration with Orphaned Limbs within this period and during the week of residency Sunday 22nd – 27th May.
