Exploring the Associates Programme: What Is It All About?
Every year, Creative Spaces recruits three associate artists to embark on a 10-month journey of personal, professional, and creative development. During the programme, associates collaborate with the Creative Spaces team on a variety of projects. With expert guidance, they also learn to develop a personal project. This aspect of the programme offers a unique opportunity to develop an idea or work that resonates with one’s creative practice, thereby enriching their portfolio and experience.
Creative Spaces is dedicated to strengthening and supporting the creative landscape of Dumfries & Galloway. We achieve this through a series of events, workshops, mentorships, and by providing educational opportunities and networking connections that are instrumental in establishing young creative freelancers.
Celebrating Creativity: What Is Our Annual Associates Showcase?
Every year, our Creative Spaces associates participate in a showcase to reflect on and celebrate their experiences of the associates’ programme. This allows them to present their personal projects, discuss their experiences of working with other associates, and share what they have learnt from the programme.
The annual showcase often features guest speakers from the Dumfries & Galloway creative community who offer their insights into working in the creative sector, opportunities to network with fellow young creatives, and the chance to enjoy live performances from the best regional emerging talent.
A Chat with The Holywood Trust: Inside Creative Spaces 2024
At the end of March, The Holywood Trust attended the 2024 Creative Spaces Showcase to review the achievements of this year’s associates and their personal projects. They also had the opportunity to chat with them. During the conversation, The Holywood Trust discussed expectations, progress, and future aspirations with Producer Mia Osborne and this year’s associates: set designer Martha Ferguson, illustrator Korey Patterson, and actor Sahar El-Hady.
