Conversing Building
Conversing Building is an ongoing project, supporting creative dialogues whilst activating spaces in and around The Stove building on Dumfries High Street. Conversing Building began in 2017 and is supported by The Stove’s Public Art lead. The project invites local groups, artists, and collectives to share displays, exhibitions, activities, and interactive artworks within the Stove’s public spaces – including The Stove Café, stairwells, and exterior walls and spaces.

Through The Stove Café programme, we host regularly changing displays and exhibitions, sharing the wider work of The Stove alongside featured ‘guest’ projects, with visiting artworks, conversational installations, and displays that seek to gather, share, and create discussion in the town centre. We welcome proposals that seek to interact and engage with our café environment and the wider Dumfries town centre.

Conversing Building also looks at creative interventions on and around The Stove building. From temporary murals and installed artworks to the changing signboard on the front of The Stove building, we consider The Stove building as a space for sharing ideas and conversation in many forms.
