Guid Nychburris: Charter 14
The Stove at Guid Nychburris Day
The artists of The Stove Network challenged the town to create a ‘People’s Charter’ for the future of Dumfries. The 1395 Royal Charter for the Burgh of Dumfries is read out each year as part of Guid Nychburris (Good Neighbours) Day– this year there was an alternative version as well….
Blue banners were wrapped around the town fountain. The lettering needed the addition of water to become properly visible – the fountain itself was the water supply and buckets and sponges the tools for the job. Next door was Charter 14 HQ – where people were invited to edit and add to the crowd-sourced ‘People’s Charter’ before stamping, signing and sealing their own copy.
