Honouring the Changemakers Who Shaped Our Journey
The Stove Network has always been shaped by its people.
Below is a list of the individuals who have shaped our journey — from an empty three-storey building in the centre of Dumfries to a creative placemaking hub for Dumfries and Galloway. Past team members, collaborators, trustees, café champions, and creative visionaries have each made a unique contribution and left a lasting impact on our organisation. From co-founders who laid our earliest foundations to emerging creative producers and marketing experts, our alumni are at the heart of The Stove Network’s story.
Collectively, our team — both past and present — has contributed to some remarkable things. Here are some of those achievements:
- We led a campaign to ‘buy back our High Street’ and established a Community Benefit Society, through which the local community now owns five buildings on the High Street. Our town has attracted over £10M in inward investment to redevelop them.
- We supported over 100 local creative freelance businesses in weathering the COVID-19 pandemic.
- We directly employ over 20 local people and have launched four social enterprises, which collectively employ another 16.
- We founded and now manage a Creative Placemaking Network for Dumfries and Galloway, comprising community anchor organisations and creative freelancers.
- We have collaborated with our local authority to embed creative placemaking into the development of capital regeneration projects for the region.
- We’ve played a leading role in championing creativity within community-led regeneration projects in Stranraer and North West Dumfries.
So, this is more than a roll call of names; it is a recognition of the enduring influence that past team members have had on our organisation, our town, and our region.
