The Stove Network – Annual General Meeting (AGM 24)

February 22 @ 6:00 pm 8:30 pm

An orange house shape made up of various images from Stove events, with AGM annual general meeting overlayed. Words flow out of the chimney of the house saying 'a discussion of homegrown hope and what's still to come in 2024'.

Our AGM, is a very special feature in our yearly calendar and one of our favourites, as it’s the moment when all the parts of The Stove, from our membership and core team to board members and those interested in finding out more, all come together to reflect on the past year and look to the future.

This year, we’ve decided to introduce some exciting changes to our annual general meeting!

We will be joined by guest speaker Dr. Ben Walters, also known as Dr. Duckie, the former Doctor in Residence with the radical social arts collective ‘Duckie.

Between 2014 and 2018, Ben conducted a PhD focused on Duckie’s work and introduced the concept of Homemade Mutant Hope Machines. This concept encapsulates the idea of individuals with limited influence initiating the creation of better worlds on their own terms. Over two years, he meticulously documented Duckie’s community-centric projects, including The Posh Club, The Slaughterhouse Club, D.H.S.S, Duckie Family, and the Vintage Clubbing Sessions.

We’ve extended an invitation to Ben to share his findings and shed light on Duckie’s impactful work, contributing to our overarching theme of ‘Homemade Hope,’ a continuation from the Gaither Inn. The evening will conclude with the launch of the ‘Manifesto of Homegrown Hope,’ a zine publication collaboratively curated by a selection of our members during January’s The Gaither Inn.

It is very important to everyone connected with The Stove that the organisation reflects the community it serves so we’d encourage everyone with even a passing interest in the work of The Stove Network to come along. Our AGM is a friendly space offering a fascinating insight into how things work, find out what’s coming up and see how you can be involved in shaping our future direction.

Doors open at 5:30 pm, AGM begins at 6:00 pm.
