Guid Nychburris: Punkin’ the Jubilee

The Stove at Guid Nychburris Day

Punkin’ the Jubilee saw 100 High St transformed into a DIY T-Shirt printing factory for a day. This event was part of Guid Nychburris Saturday and was particularly popular with families and young children.

Punkin’ started a few weeks earlier when The Stove asked the public to send in designs for T-Shirts on the theme of ‘Punkin’ the Jubilee’ – over 30 designs were submitted and 10 were chosen. We then organised a free workshop in screenprinting that was attended by local artists including a group from D&G College.

Those who had attended the course then staffed the T-Shirt factory on Guid Nychburris day people who came in were invited to choose from one of the ten designs and then were helped to print their own T-Shirt – which they could take away with them for free. One T-shirt was printed every 2 minutes for more than 4 hours and 100 High Street was full of people, chat and laughter for the whole afternoon.

This was followed by a live performance by Junkman’s Choir, outside on the Planestanes. The estimated audience over the 45-minute set was 500.
