Stitching our Story started as an activity on our Mapping event, back in September of 2016, when the talented Deirdre Nelson got us started stitching places of significance to Dumfries’ Norwegian connections into printed map sections of our town. It was then continued by local artist and archival historian Alyne Jones and expanded to include other stories and connections. It is now a monthly event, with a dedicated group of stitchers meet the first Wednesday of every month to stitch, drink tea, eat cake and shares stories.
Recently we joined Oceanallover’s Orographic micro festival event to exhibit some of our pieces. We hope that 2019 will bring more stitching and ideas for showcasing this beautifully detailed work.
Please join us in exploring Dumfries’ streets by stitching into this beautiful map of the town.
